Fluctuating raw water quality is often the biggest challenge in industrial operations. Surface water such as rivers or lakes is highly susceptible to seasonal changes that trigger spikes in turbidity levels (turbidity) and suspended solids. 

If the water is used directly or fed into a further purification system such as Reverse Osmosis (RO), the risk of machine damage and membrane clogging will be very high. 

To overcome this, the implementation of ultrafiltration technology is a solution to ensure that water treatment has a much more stable quality.

The Role of Ultrafiltration Technology in Water Quality Stabilization

Essentially, ultrafiltration is a separation process using a membrane that acts as an absolute physical barrier to various microscopic particles. Compared to conventional sand media filtration (sand filter), this membrane provides a guarantee of water clarity that is not affected by raw water fluctuations.

The pressurized ultrafiltration system designed by Hydromaster uses high-quality PVDF membrane material with a hollow fiber configuration (Hollow Fiber). 

Dimensionally, each membrane unit measures 6 inches in diameter and 68 inches in length, providing an effective filtration area of 38 square meters (409 ft²) per membrane. 

This system works efficiently through the process Dead-end Cross Flow, where each membrane is capable of producing water flow rates ranging from 1.0 to 5.0 m³/hour. 

The main technical advantage of this unit is the water recovery rate (recovery) which is very high reaching 90% to 95%, and is energy efficient because it only requires an operating pressure below 1 Bar (maximum 3 Bar).

In terms of durability and quality, this membrane is designed to operate at temperatures below 50° Celsius and a wide pH range of 1 to 10. The entire system is powered by a 415V/50Hz 3-phase power supply. 

This technology ensures the elimination of bacteria (Bacteria Removal Rate) up to 99.9% and produces clear water with a turbidity level below 0.5 NTU.
