Ultrafiltration Systems and Their Benefits in Reducing Turbidity and Contaminants

Sistem ultrafiltration is an advanced physical separation technology that utilizes semipermeable membranes. It is used to filter water to remove various particles ranging from microscopic particles and macromolecules to colloids and suspended solids.

Ultrafiltration works by forcing water through the pores of a membrane using hydrostatic pressure, allowing pure water molecules to pass through while pollutants are retained on the surface.

How the Ultrafiltration System Works in Addressing Turbidity

Turbidity or turbidity is generally caused by the presence of sediment, soil, or fine silt suspended in surface water. Turbid water cannot be used directly for industrial purposes or fed into advanced treatment facilities because it causes clogging.

This filtration system is designed to utilize a hollow fiber membrane or Hollow Fiber. These membranes are made of durable PVDF (Polyvinylidene Fluoride) material.

When raw water is forced through the PVDF membrane using the Dead -end Cross Flow separation method, sediment particles are immediately blocked and trapped on the outer side of the membrane fibers. The result is a supply of clear water that is safe for industrial operations.

Benefits of Using Membrane Filtration Technology

Here are the benefits your manufacturing facility can enjoy.

1. A Consistent Decrease in Turbidity Levels

The most significant benefit of implementing this filtration technology is its ability to maintain a consistently high level of water clarity. The PVDF membranes used have pore sizes that are extremely small, ranging from 0.1 to 0.01 micrometers.

This extreme density consistently keeps the turbidity level of the product water (Product Water Turbidity) below 0.5 NTU, regardless of how poor or turbid the raw water entering the treatment system may be.

2. The Reliability of the Ultrafiltration System in Removing Bacteria

In addition to ensuring a high level of clarity, the ultrafiltration system offers the benefit of removing organic contaminants and harmful pathogens. These membranes are specifically designed to achieve a very high level of bacterial removal.

This ensures that the product’s water output is hygienic, pure, and safe for use in various industrial processes.

3. Operational Efficiency

All of the benefits of this contaminant filtration process are achieved through mechanical efficiency and energy savings. This advanced filtration system is designed to require only low operating pressure—less than 1 bar, with a maximum limit of 3 bar.
