If pure seawater is used as the raw water source because other water sources are unavailable, Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) is usually the last resort. Due to the corrosiveness, dissolved salt content, and extremely high osmotic pressure of seawater, SWRO investment and operational costs are higher than other reverse osmosis systems.
The SWRO Hydromaster is equipped with an Energy Recovery feature that utilizes hydraulic energy from high-pressure exhaust streams and returns it to the SWRO system, thus drastically reducing energy consumption.
