Untuk mencegah krisis lingkungan tersebut, kehadiran IPAL menjadi sebuah solusi.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Secara definitif, pengertian IPAL adalah singkatan dari Instalasi Pengolahan Air Limbah. Dalam bahasa Inggris, fasilitas ini lebih dikenal dengan sebutan <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wastewater Treatment Plant<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (WWTP). Berikut adalah fungsinya:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Menjaga Kelestarian Ekosistem Air:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Mencegah matinya biota sungai dan laut akibat keracunan zat kimia berbahaya dan penurunan kadar oksigen terlarut.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Mematuhi Regulasi Pemerintah:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Memastikan parameter air buangan pabrik selalu berada di bawah ambang batas baku mutu yang telah ditetapkan oleh Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Efisiensi Penggunaan Air Baku:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Air buangan yang telah dijernihkan melalui fasilitas ini bisa diproses lebih lanjut untuk didaur ulang, sehingga pabrik dapat menghemat biaya pembelian air bersih.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Cara Kerja Sistem Pengolahan Air Limbah<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meskipun desain dan skala setiap instalasi bisa berbeda-beda tergantung jenis limbahnya, proses pengolahan air kotor secara umum akan melewati tahapan berikut:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><b> Pra-Pengolahan (<\/b><b><i>Pre-Treatment<\/i><\/b><b>)<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tahap paling awal ini bertujuan untuk menyaring benda-benda padat berukuran besar, seperti plastik, ranting, atau kertas yang terbawa arus air kotor. Selain itu, air akan ditampung di bak ekualisasi untuk menstabilkan debit aliran dan meratakan tingkat keasaman (pH) sebelum diproses oleh mesin.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><b> Pengolahan Primer (<\/b><b><i>Primary Treatment<\/i><\/b><b>)<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pada fase ini, pemisahan fisik mulai dilakukan. Air dialirkan secara tenang ke dalam bak pengendapan (clarifier). Material kotoran yang berat (lumpur) akan mengendap ke dasar tangki, sementara partikel yang ringan seperti minyak dan lemak akan mengapung di permukaan untuk kemudian disingkirkan.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><b> Pengolahan Sekunder (<\/b><b><i>Secondary Treatment<\/i><\/b><b>)<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fokus pada tahap ini adalah menghilangkan polutan organik yang terlarut di dalam air. Proses ini sangat mengandalkan rekayasa biologis dengan memanfaatkan mikroorganisme atau bakteri khusus. Bakteri tersebut akan memakan dan mengurai zat organik berbahaya di dalam air menjadi bentuk yang lebih stabil dan aman.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><b> Pengolahan Tersier (<\/b><b><i>Tertiary Treatment<\/i><\/b><b>)<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ini adalah tahap pemurnian tingkat lanjut.
